STEP 1: Begin with Reference Sources (print and online) for background information
STEP 2: Find Books (overviews and monographs)
STEP 3: Look for articles in Magazines & Journals
STEP 4: Search for primary-source documents (such as letters) written at the time of your topic. These can be found through Biblion searches (try an author search) and in databases such as Modern World History Online. You can also check the Websites tab for sites with primary-source materials.
