In this 2 minute video, Danticat speaks about her childhood and her writing.  This video was created for the Vilcek Foundation.  Danticat was the receipient of the 2020 Vilcek Prize in Literature.  The Vilcek Prizes are awarded to immigrants with a legacy of major accomplishments in the biomedical sciences and the arts and humanities.

What role did your family and community have in shaping you as a writer?  Danticat answers this question in this 4 minute video for The American Writers Museum. This video clip is part of the museum's temporary exhibit My America: Immigrant and Refugee Writers Today.
